The Admiral Lord Rodney can be traced back as early as 1822 when it was owned by John Whitaker. It was one of four pubs in the area, the Robin Hood, the Old Duke and the Jolly Sailors. They have long since been demolished and the Lord Rodney is the sole survivor. Old Waterside was known as wapping to the locals and the Wapping pash was celebrated every year and the Rodney always played a leading part in the fun and festivities. There is a brief history on our dartroom wall of the wapping pash which is very interesting to locals and newcomers alike.
